Today is Maundy Thursday. The name “Maundy” comes from the Latin “mandatum,” or “command,” and is the first word of the phrase “Mandatum novum do vobis ut diligatis invicem sicut dilexi vos”, in English, “A new commandment I give you, that you love one another.” Jesus, speaking to his disciples, continues, “Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another” (John 13:34).
Today is Holy Wednesday or Spy Wednesday. Have you ever wondered what this day in Holy Week marks or observes? It remembers the initiation of Judas Iscariot's betrayal of the Lord.
"Then went one of the twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, to the chief priests, And said to them: "What will you give me, and I will deliver him unto you?" But they appointed him thirty pieces of silver. And from thenceforth he sought opportunity to betray him." - Matthew 26:14-16
Thus, Judas became a "spy" for those seeking to destroy Jesus; hence, Spy Wednesday. Though the term has fallen out of parlance today, Spy Wednesday was used with regularity in English-speaking countries through the 19th century.

Today's "Special" Service was intended to be held midweek for Lent. Even though we had to cancel the remainder of our midweek services, we are very pleased to be able to bring you this "Morning Prayer/Matins" Service from the Anglican tradition. May your soul be comforted and your faith strengthened!
Greetings brothers and sisters in Christ,
I write to you today with the hopes of accomplishing two things. One, it’s my intention to minister to you, as best as I can, wherever and however you are reading this “From the Pastor’s Desk” Article. Secondly, I desire to bring you up to speed on some of the new and exciting strategies we are implementing to Minister to you (and perhaps, many others?) for “the duration” of this new reality. I pray to God that if you are reading this, that you are both comforted and encouraged by the Word of God, and by my humble offerings.
